I have known Griffin since our kids were together at Goddard Preschool. Lila absolutely adored him and they had a ton of fun playing together before Griffin graduated before her and moved on to Stargate High School. And then Lila made the transfer over to Stargate when she was in 3rd grade and they became friends again. In fact, the photograph below is one that I took with Jam Portraits when we did photos at their preschool. Check out the superman shirt!
Griffin has been highly involved with social events at Stargate High School. I know he learned this from his awesome parents. His dad, Shaun, has served on Stargate’s board in the past and his mom, Lisa, is currently on the board and has spent countless house keeping the Stargate community in the know about events, meetings, deadlines etc etc. They are both fabulous people and I’m happy to call them my friends.
When we started to discuss locations for Griffin’s shoot, his mom mentioned that he wasn’t a fan of the heat. That can be challenging in July in Colorado. So I suggested that we head to the top of Flagstaff Mountain to a special place called Artist’s Point. It’s definitely about 15 degrees cooler at the top and there is often a nice breeze coming from the West. Not to mention, so beautiful views.
Shaun couldn’t join us for this senior shoot so Lisa had to do all the heavy lifting by herself. She was super helpful with all the stuff I drag around and Griffin pitched in too because he’s just that kind of person.
I’m not entirely sure other people in the area appreciated the Dua Lipa mix we were playing. I also feel strongly that Dua Lipa improves almost any situation so we went with it.
As always, I like to finish up my senior shoots doing some OCF (off-camera flash) work with my Profoto lights. We got lucky and had yet another beautiful Colorado sunset! The senior photo below was actually featured on the Instagram page of Senior Year Magazine which is a pretty big deal. You can see their Insta here https://www.instagram.com/senioryearmagazine/
